  • Former President Donald Trump is using his looming indictment for fundraising on Truth Social.
  • Trump said he would be “arrested” next week and called for his followers to protest.
  • Trump’s attorney said he was basing his claim on “tea leaves” and a Fox News report.

True to form, former President Donald Trump is using his looming indictment to fundraise.

In a Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump said he expects to be “arrested” on Tuesday, though his attorneys previously told Insider’s Laura Italiano on Saturday they could not confirm that information and said he was “basing this on press reports.”

A few hours after Trump called for his followers to “protest” and “take our nation back,” he shared a fundraising video.

“If you are doing poorly, as so many of you are, do not send anything. If you are doing well, which was made possible through the great policies of the Trump Administration, send your contribution,” Trump wrote, listing his website for donations.

“We have to take back our Country and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” the former president added.

Murmurs of a Trump indictment have circulated recently in the Manhattan district attorney’s investigation of the illegal $130,000 hush payment made to Stormy Daniels leading up to the 2016 election. However, there have not been credible reports that the grand jury has voted to indict Trump, which would precede Trump surrendering to authorities.

Fox News published a report on Friday citing a “court source” who predicted the indictment, though Trump attorney Susan Necheles did not confirm whether that was the “press report” that her client was referencing.

Trump continued his Truth Social spree Saturday afternoon, calling for his supporters to “PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!”

The Manhattan DA has discussed security measures ahead of a possible indictment, per a report.
