  • Rupert Murdoch is no longer engaged to former model and conservative radio host Ann Lesley Smith.
  • The pair announced their engagement two weeks ago.
  • Murdoch, who owns Fox News and The Wall Street Journal, has been married four times in the past.

“It’s a sad, sad day when love dies,” Roman Roy, a character on HBO’s “Succession,” which is loosely based on the life of the Murdoch family, prophetically said in the first episode of the latest season.

Today seems to be one of those days.

Rupert Murdoch, the 92-year-old media mogul whose portfolio includes Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post, is no longer engaged to Ann Lesley Smith.

A spokesperson for Murdoch declined to comment.

Murdoch and Smith, a 66-year-old former model and conservative radio talk show host, had announced their plans to wed just two weeks ago. News of the couple’s breakup was first reported by Vanity Fair.

“I was very nervous. I dreaded falling in love — but I knew this would be my last. It better be. I’m happy,” Murdoch told the New York Post about their engagement last month.

The two met at Murdoch’s vineyard in Bel Air, California, last year, according to the Post. Smith and her late husband reportedly owned a vineyard as well.

Murdoch has a net worth of more than $8 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The couple had planned to wed this summer, just one year after Murdoch finalized his divorce from his fourth wife, Jerry Hall.
