The Global Security News: Trump Investigations from Michael_Novakhov (99 sites): 1. Trump from Michael_Novakhov (197 sites): Palmer Report: Donald Trump’s timing couldn’t be any worse

Criminals tend to associate with their fellow criminals, so it’s not one bit surprising that a lifelong financial criminal like Donald Trump has spent his life associating with one criminal after another. But even criminals tend to hate sex offenders, just as much as the rest of us hate sex offenders. That’s what makes it so disturbing that Trump is associated with so many confirmed and alleged pedophiles.

International operative George Nader, who played some still poorly understood role in helping Russia and Donald Trump conspire to alter the outcome of the 2016 election, is sitting in American jail cell right now, on charges of child pornography. Cindy Yang, who founded the Florida massage parlor that eventually turned out to be a front for sex trafficking, attended events at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago. This weekend’s arrest of Donald Trump’s old friend Jeffrey Epstein, on charges of sex trafficking of minors, is big news. But it’s nothing new, as Epstein cut a plea deal a decade ago on similar charges, thus confessing by default.

We’re at a point where even the ever-reluctant mainstream media seems finally on the verge of asking the difficult but necessary question of why Donald Trump is surrounded by so many alleged sex criminals. So what is Trump doing about it? According to a report from Bloomberg, Trump attended a formal dinner tonight and sat at the same table as New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft – who is fending off sex criminal charges of his own.

To be clear, Robert Kraft has pleaded not guilty to a solicitation charge, and none of the charges against him are even accusing him of having known that the massage parlor he frequented was a sex trafficking ring. But the optics and the timing of the dinner couldn’t be much worse for Donald Trump. Then again, with so many of Trump’s associates caught up in this kind of garbage in various ways big and small, it’s not surprising.

The Global Security News: Counterintelligence from Michael_Novakhov (51 sites): Eurasia Review: More Proof Of Interbreeding Between ‘Archaic’ Humans And Homo Sapiens In Asia

An analysis of a 160,000-year-old archaic human molar fossil
discovered in China offers the first morphological evidence of
interbreeding between archaic humans and Homo sapiens in Asia.

The study, which appears in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,
centers on a three-rooted lower molar–a rare trait primarily found in
modern Asians–that was previously thought to have evolved after H. sapiens dispersed from Africa.

The new research points to a different evolutionary path.

“The trait’s presence in the fossil suggests both that it is older
than previously understood and that some modern Asian groups obtained
the trait through interbreeding with a sister group of Neanderthals, the
Densiovans,” explains Shara Bailey, a professor of anthropology at New
York University and the paper’s lead author.

In a previous study, published in Nature, Bailey and her colleagues
concluded that the Denisovans occupied the Tibetan Plateau long before Homo sapiens arrived in the region.

That work, along with the new PNAS analysis, focused on a hominin lower mandible found on the Tibetan Plateau in Baishiya Karst Cave in Xiahe, China in 1980.

The PNAS study, which also included NYU anthropologist
Susan Antón and Jean-Jacques Hublin, director of the Department of Human
Evolution at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology,
centered on the molar, with the aim of understanding the relationship
between archaic humans who occupied Asia more than 160,000 years ago and
modern Asians.

“In Asia, there have long been claims for continuity between archaic
and modern humans because of some shared traits,” observes Bailey. “But
many of those traits are primitive or are not unique to Asians.
However, the three-rooted lower molar trait is unique to Asian groups.
Its presence in a 160,000-year-old archaic human in Asia strongly
suggests the trait was transferred to H. sapiens in the region through interbreeding with archaic humans in Asia.”

The Global Security News: Counterintelligence from Michael_Novakhov (51 sites): Eurasia Review: New Anticancer Agents May Better Control Tumor Growth In Nearly Every Cancer Type

A gene called MYC has become one of the hottest targets for cancer
researchers around the world. MYC is known to drive tumor growth in
nearly all cancer types – but successfully targeting the gene has proven
to be a challenge. One that has been baffling researchers for more than
three decades.

Now, researchers at Purdue University have discovered a novel set of MYC promoter G-quadruplex stabilizers that have demonstrated anticancer activity in human cancer cell cultures. The discovery is published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

“We are striving to discover effective anticancer agents,” said Mark
Cushman, a distinguished professor of medicinal chemistry in Purdue’s
College of Pharmacy, who helps lead the research team. “The ability to
incorporate MYC promoter G-quadruplex stabilizing activity into existing
topoisomerase I inhibitors has shown promise in making them more potent
as anticancer agents and in making cancer cells less likely to become
resistant to them.”

The Purdue team discovered potential anticancer agents that target
the MYC promoter G-quadruplex and downregulate the expression of the MYC
oncogene, which is overexpressed in cancer and is associated with
almost all aspects of cancer development. The work has been supported by
the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health.

Cushman, whose cancer research work contributed to his election as a
fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, said they discovered a
novel class of indenoisoquinoline MYC promoter G-quadruplex stabilizers
in collaboration with Danzhou Yang. Some of them also inhibit
topoisomerase I, an enzyme that facilitates DNA replication and is
produced in greater amounts in cancer cells.

“Targeting promoter G-quadruplexes offers a relatively new and
exciting strategy to inhibit the critical oncogene expression in cancer
cells,” said Yang, the Martha and Fred Borch Chair of Cancer
Therapeutics in Purdue’s College of Pharmacy, who led the research with
Cushman. “We hope to combine the potency of the DNA-targeted drugs and
selectivity of molecular-targeted approaches for new cancer
therapeutics.”

Yang and Cushman, both members of the Purdue University Center for
Cancer Research, said the agents they discovered could be used in
helping to treat nearly every type of cancer. Some of the technology
from their work has been licensed to Gibson Oncology LLC through the
Purdue Research Foundation Office of Technology Commercialization.

Some of the work Cushman and his team previously developed led to
three anticancer agents that are in clinical trials. The MYC innovation
will greatly enhance interest in these anticancer agents within the
scientific community and will also contribute to the understanding of
how they work.

Brooklyn Paper

Two bandits robbed three people at gunpoint in Prospect Park on July 7, according to police.

The victims were in Brooklyn’s Backyard near the park entrance at Third Street and Prospect Park West, when the gunmen approached at 1:30 a.m., cops said.

One of the robbers brandished a black firearm and ordered the victims to empty their pockets, according to police.

The late-night visitors to the park — which technically closes at 1 a.m. — coughed up their wallets and cell phones, and the thieves made their getaway, cops said.

Anyone who provides police with information leading to an arrest can expect up to a $2,500 reward through the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers program. The public can phone their tips to (800) 577-8477, log into the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com, tweet @NYPDTips, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
